Signs You Could Use a Fibromyalgia Treatment and What to Expect

We offer patients a noninvasive fibromyalgia treatment that can be incredibly effective in helping to reduce pain and discomfort while also improving our patients’ quality of life. This is an incredibly common condition that impacts over 3 million people in the United States every year. It is possible to treat fibromyalgia but a complete cure is hard to come by. Fortunately, with our treatments, it is possible for patients to live a whole and comfortable life even with this condition.

How do I know if I have fibromyalgia?

This condition is associated with a large variety of symptoms so often it goes completely undiagnosed. For example, someone may associate muscle pain with simply over-exerting themselves. This makes it important to understand what the range of symptoms are and if the patient has more than one, the best course of action would be to schedule an examination.

Some of the symptoms associated with the condition are:

  • Extreme fatigue
  • Regular bad moods
  • Memory loss
  • Changing sleep patterns
  • Muscle pain and tenderness
  • Sharp back pain
  • Chronic body pain
  • Intestinal problems such as nausea, being gassy or constipated
  • The sensation of pins and needles throughout the body
  • Cold or tingling sensations in the hands
  • Depression
  • Headaches
  • Tingling feet
  • Anxiety or nervousness

Again, we realize that this is an incredibly large range of symptoms. That is the unfortunate part about fibromyalgia. Because it can impact everything from how a person feels physically to their emotional state and mental clarity, it is truly a difficult condition to live with. This makes it important for patients to seek treatment to address the symptoms. Part of that treatment can be received by visiting our office.

The focus of our fibromyalgia treatment

In our office, we are focused on the musculoskeletal system and everything in the body that is impacted by it. We can specifically treat things like:

  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Muscle soreness
  • Tingling sensations
  • Lack of blood flow
  • Headaches

Additionally, when we bring the spine into alignment, our patients often experience improvements in other areas of the body as well. This may include improvements to the gastrointestinal tract and the reduction in symptoms like constipation and being gassy. It may be possible for our treatment to positively impact all of a person’s fibromyalgia symptoms but to know if this is the case, we need to conduct an examination and discuss everything that a patient is experiencing.

What does the fibromyalgia treatment involve?

We recommend that patients practice some self-care at home. For example, taking time to relax is important since the symptoms themselves can cause stress which creates a vicious cycle. Also, we will teach patients some exercises that can be done safely to increase muscle strength and promote blood flow.

In our office, we use chiropractic treatment techniques, stretching and massage to reduce and prevent symptoms related to a person’s physical health. By addressing the physical body, some of the mental and emotional symptoms may also be reduced. However, some patients find that it is necessary to also visit a therapist or take medication for things like depression. We do not prescribe medication in our office so we often work with other healthcare providers to deliver a comprehensive treatment schedule that will provide the best possible help to our patients.

Long-term health

It is possible to live a full and good life with fibromyalgia. To do so, patients need to be proactive in obtaining the health care they will need to treat and prevent the symptoms. We recommend calling our office and scheduling an appointment so that we can begin providing that assistance.
